how the process works

Initial Meeting

An informal site based meeting during which I can spend some time looking at the project brief, discuss some ideas and begin developing some loose concepts. This is a very productive introduction to the landscape design process and I hope builds a sense of excitement and confidence in the next stage. I charge a standard £80.00 fee for this meeting.

Site Survey

Upon commission the next stage involves a comprehensive site survey exercise, which involves measurement of the existing site features and production of a scaled base plan. If topographic information is available I will be able to review and import into my CAD model and this will help the final output. Usually the site survey can take place within 3 weeks of commission subject to work commitments.

Masterplan Presentation

It takes approximately 4-6 weeks from completion of the survey before I return to site with a fully scaled working masterplan of the scheme. This will include a full materials specification, planting schedule and supporting illustrations to help you visualise my ideas. Alongside the design I will also present a detailed Bill of Quantities which outlines the cost to install and is produced by one of a number of professional contractors I work alongside.

Amendments & Costing

Until you see the final design it is difficult to imagine how the garden may change and sometimes the process may highlight options that you hadn't considered. As part of the process I am more than happy to make amendments to the plans following discussion, tweaking the scheme to better reflect your requirements. Having a comprehensive quotation will also help you make informed decisions based upon what your budgets are.

Construction & Planting

I have a network of highly reputable and skilled landscape contractors who work alongside me to realise the gardens, working under my direction we pride ourselves on delivering professional landscapes at realistic budgets. I am very hands on with the planting and will provide all the plants required in the design after the main construction works are complete - setting them out in my own vision and introducing you to each one.
